Puerto San Miguel

The island is waiting

In Puerto de San Miguel, the cliffs around the sandy beach protect it from the waves. A favourite for families and couples who want peace and quiet.

San Miguel de Balansat

A town in Ibiza's north. The port of San Miguel is in the village, but the village itself is not right on the coast. The village and the harbour, Puerto de San Miguel, are more than 4 kilometres apart, but they belong together! There are a few shops and hotels in the small town, as well as a nice beach. Families with young children like to go to Puerto de San Miguel because it's not as busy as the most famous beaches, and the water is shallow. San Miguel has both old and new parts. For example, it has one of the oldest churches on the island. You don't want to miss out on this part of Ibiza!

Puerto de San Miguel Playa

Puerto de San Miguel used to be San Miguel's fishing port, but now it's a popular place for families and couples who want to get away. This is one of Ibiza's most secure beaches. This place is different from the beaches in the south. It has hills, pine trees, and a cave.

There are a few souvenir shops, a supermarket, and a few restaurants and bars near this beach. Along the beach are a few hotels and apartment complexes, many of which look like they were built in the 1970s. It looks like time has stopped here, which makes it very charming and makes you feel like you're going back in time. During the summer, you can rent beds and umbrellas.

Benirrás Beach

Benirrás Beach

People know the beach for the hippies who always hang out there. It is known for its beautiful sunsets and for Sundays when hippies drum. One of the most beautiful bays in the northwest of Ibiza is Cala Benirras. It is a 300-meter-long, beautiful beach with water that is as clear as glass.

The beach of Benirrás is reached by a beautiful path that winds down through hills and valleys. It is a pretty beach with some pebbles and rocks on either side that you can climb over. Across the water, you can see an interesting rock formation called Cap Bernat, or "the finger of God," as the locals call it. The bottom of the water is rocky, which is great for snorkelers but makes it hard to walk in. But that's part of the fun! The water is as clear as glass.

This protected bay is a popular place for private yachts and motorboats to anchor. They come here in the late afternoon to watch the sunset, which is a romantic time. In the summer, drummers come to the beach on Sundays to "drum down the sunset," an iconic hippie ritual. This drumming is unique to Ibiza and has been going on for a long time.

But because so many people like the event, the beach is always packed on Sundays. It will be hard to find a place to park, so come early and spend the whole day at the beach, or take the bus. Because it is so popular on Sundays, drumming also happens on most other summer evenings, but it doesn't start until 15 to 20 minutes before sunset. It's not as big as on Sundays, but it's still very nice and not as crowded.

During the summer, there is also a lovely small hippie market that takes place a few times a week. The stands sell clothes, accessories, handmade items, and more.

How to get there:

Cala Benirras is in the province of San Juan, which is northwest of the island of Ibiza. From San Miguel, it only takes 10 minutes to get there. From Ibiza Town, it takes half an hour to get there, and from San Antonio, it takes about 35 minutes. You can park in the small lot near the beach.

Market

Every week, there is an artisan market in San Miguel's town square. Every Thursday from May to October, there is a night market with lots of nice stalls. There are stands with things that are made by hand in Ibiza. From 6:15 to 7:00 p.m., there is an "Ibicenca dance" in front of the church of San Miguel. Very old-fashioned and fun to watch or dance to.

Vamos

Are you interested in going to this cave? The entrance is about 12/14 meters above sea level, and the temperature inside the cave is about 20 degrees. During your visit to the cave, a guide will show you around. This will take about 40 minutes and can be done in different languages.

Tips

● Going to the cave with kids is also a lot of fun!

● Cova de Can Marca is hard for disabled people to get to, which is a shame. We also don't think that people with strollers should go to the cave.

● If you stand at the entrance, you can see a beautiful view of the bay and the Torre d'es Molar tower, which was built in 1750. You can also go here. From the tower, you can see the Ibiza mainland and the Cova de Can Marca cave.

● You can also see the island of Murada, where an ancient kind of lizard that is almost extinct lives.

● Remember that the ground is rocky, so you should wear shoes that are easy to walk in.

Elements Ibiza

This lovely restaurant is in a hidden bay of San Miguel called Playa de Benirras. People want to get married at this restaurant because it has such a romantic atmosphere. The view is stunning, with views of the sea and the rock Cap Bernat.

The restaurant's interior is all white and made from things that were already on the island. Elements have a juice bar and serve food from the Mediterranean. Three different chefs make breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here, you can hang out all day and not have to worry about anything.

At Elements, you can do more than eat. During the high season, for example, there is a DJ all day and yoga classes. There is also a place to get a massage and a shop with all kinds of clothes, accessories, and bikinis from Ibicenco.

Tip: If you're coming by car, make a reservation or get there on time. There aren't many parking spots, and only tables that have been reserved can use them.

La Luna Nell 'Orto

a "finca," which is a large Spanish farm that is 600 years old and has been turned into a beautiful restaurant. This is the rural part of Ibiza, where the atmosphere is very real. There are tables for eating under the fig tree in the garden. The different levels of the terrace and the rest of the garden make it very comfortable. White with brown, lavender, and a lot of green trees and bushes. With the help of their friend Mario, they make the best pasta and crepes for vegetarians. They also have tasty dishes with meat and fish.
