WHY VISIT LOS CRISTIANOS
Los Cristianos is located on the southwest coast of Tenerife in a wide bay with a backdrop of volcanic mountains. Once an old fishing village, it has developed into one of the most popular holiday destinations in the whole of the Canary Islands. Over the years Los Cristianos has experienced major expansion but great effort has been taken in the development to ensure that the feel of the original architecture and the atmosphere remains in keeping with its traditional Canarian charms.
Los Cristianos is blessed with two wonderful beaches, on one side of the harbour there is Los Cristianos beach which is a large stretch of golden beach which was actually made from sand imported from the Sahara Desert, the beach gently slopes into the Atlantic Sea so is really calm to bathe in. On the other side of the harbour is Playa de las Vistas, another lengthy stretch of soft yellow sand which offers up an abundance of water sports. Much of the action on Los Cristianos takes place around the long promenade which borders the beach which is a haven for top quality restaurants, vibrant bars, and cafes.
The promenade runs all the way along the beach into the neighbouring resort of Playa de Las Americas, at night it lights up as one of the busiest places in the south of Tenerife. Los Cristianos is the main port town in Tenerife’s south coast, from the beautiful harbour you can enjoy day trips on pleasure cruises, outings on glass-bottom boats, diving excursions and catch ferries to neighbouring islands.
