Meet Barbati… It might be your next holiday destination
East Corfu, Greece
On the eastern coast of the island of Corfu, there is a town called Barbati. It is located past the cheaper resort of Ipsos and in front of Nissaki, which starts the more expensive northeast part of the island.
Barbati, which is on the edge of Mount Pantokrator and is surrounded by rolling hills that spread away from the mountain, never fails to amaze and excite anyone who comes to visit. It is in a very green area, and being between a mountain and the sea gives it the best of these natural environments. It's easy to see why people think this beach is one of the most beautiful along the east coast. It has amazing views not only of Albania's coast but also of Corfu's town. The water shelves gradually into clear seas, and silver olive groves and pine trees line the beach on either side. There are many places to stay if you want to get away from the crowds, and the water gets clearer and clearer as it goes out to sea.
The
town
The old town of Corfu, the Venetian citadel, and the mountains of Albania are all visible from Barbati, which is right next to Pantokratoras mountain. The view from Barbati is breathtaking.
The town of Barbati can be found on a length of coast that is replete with scenic coves and caves that are just begging to be explored. In addition, the town is home to a stunning beach that is covered in white pebbles.
The growth of this community has resulted in its separation into two completely separate districts. This was done so that it could provide guests access to both the sea and the mountains.
One is located higher along the road that runs along the seaside, and its nightlife is busier because of its many bars and stores.
The second half of Barbati is a more tranquil area; it is bordered by olive orchards, and in order to reach there, you have to use the unpaved roads that lead from the main road down to the water. This section of Barbati is located to the south of the first section.
What's Barbati like
Both sides of the primary beach road on the eastern side of Corfu are home to the resort community of Barbati, which is also known by the spelling variant Mparmpati. Both the airport and the capital of the island, Kerkyra, are around a half-hour's drive north of this location.
The airport is around 20 kilometres away, and the transport time should take approximately forty minutes, give or take a few minutes depending on whether you are the first or last passenger dropped off.
The community has everything a tourist could want, including supermarkets, souvenir shops where you can buy fridge magnets and other mementos, a variety of excellent restaurants, and a few bars, but don't anticipate any nightclubs to be there. In addition to bakeries and automated teller machines, Barbati has a variety of rental car agencies, and you can even rent boats there to go coast cruising.
Due to the fact that the resort is spread out along the coast, none of the hotels are located more than a reasonable distance from the water. Pebbles make up Barbati Beach, which also features sun loungers and a few tavernas where visitors can get refreshments throughout the day. There are a variety of water activities that can be enjoyed on the beach, making it simple to keep the adrenaline junkies in your group occupied.
In Barbati, one can pick from a wide variety of different lodging options, ranging from simple apartments to opulent villas and everything in between.

Demographics

It's also great for groups of friends who like lively nightlife (thanks to the busy bars on the main road) and a beautiful, green environment.
Location
Barbati is about 20 kilometres north of the town of Corfu. It is on the eastern coast road that goes from the town to the other resorts up to Kassiopi. It is near Mount Pantokrator, at the base of the green hills surrounding it.
From the airport:
Barbati is 35 minutes by car from Corfu Airport and 45 minutes by bus from Corfu Town.
A private ride from the airport to your hotel costs about €45. There is the option for pooled transfers with Hoppa.
There is a big road that goes from Corfu Town to Kassiopi along the northeast coast of Corfu. This is an easy way to get around the area. Some roads that lead to beaches have sharp turns or steep slopes, but most are straight.
Accessibility:
Several side roads go in different directions, from the main road down to Barbati Beach. The walk takes about 5 minutes and is very tough. During the summer, the parking lot could fill up quickly. You may have to take a few steps to get to the beach.
Behind the beach, you can find places to stay, but keep in mind that the closest restaurants and convenience stores are further up the main road.
This beach is not accessible by Seatrac for people in wheelchairs, which is a shame.
There is neither a road nor a path that goes along the shoreline. In the area around the beach bars, there are only wooden boardwalks.
Transport
Barbati, as well as the other beach resorts and the city of Corfu, can be reached by the main road that runs along the coast. Renting a car can also be a good idea if you want to go on fun adventures in the nearby mountain towns. During the summer months, there is also a regular bus service that goes from Corfu Town to Barbati and other nearby places.
Buses run all day long between the town of Barbati and the city of Corfu.
In addition, a taxi boat service may take you to Ipsos and the harbour of Nisaki, which are situated close to where you are currently located.
Things to do
A trip to Kerkyra is a fantastic choice to make from Barbati because it is simple to travel there and offers a wide variety of activities, including access to a number of fascinating historical sites. You are also close enough to a number of other communities in the area that you can travel there for a day trip or an evening out. Nissaki and Kalami are located directly to the north, and Ipsos and Dassia may be found directly to the south.
If you are in the mood for some vigorous exercise, Barbati is an excellent starting point for a trek up Mount Pantokrator. If you are looking for something a little less strenuous, though, a stroll along the beach would be a better choice.
Even if you decide to stay on the beach the whole time you are in Barbati, you probably won't get bored. The beach is a great place to snorkel and has everything you need to do water sports. If all you want to do is relax and have a drink, you can easily do what you want by going to one of the lounge beach bars that are right on the beach. Barbati's nightlife is lively and friendly, with a number of clubs, taverns, and restaurants making for a warm and lively atmosphere. There are a lot of shops to choose from on the main road that goes through Barbati. Barbati is a great place to start a hike on the beautiful slopes around Mount Pantokrator because of its enviable location. You can also rent a boat and sail around the nearby bays and inlets.
ACTIVITIES AND AMENITIES
You shouldn't expect to find many things to do and ways to have fun in Barbati. The best way to do well in this place is to take it easy during the day.
You can take a private motorboat along the coast to the north or head south to get to Corfu Town. There are many water sports available, like stand-up paddleboarding and jet skiing.
Pantokrator is the highest point on Corfu, and people who are in good shape can hike up it.
On the main road, near the top of the hill, there are a few stores and restaurants for tourists, like mini-markets and bakeries. Nearly all of the restaurants have beautiful views of the water.
Ipsos or Dassia, which are farther south along the coast, have more things to do
The company that is renting you a place to stay should be able to help you plan trips on and off the island.
If you are seeking a dinner that will satisfy your appetite, there are a variety of local restaurants close to the lake that you may select from.
People seeking a tranquil setting but do not want to give up their evening habit of having a drink will find Barbati the ideal location. Despite the fact that Barbati does not have lively nightlife, this makes it the ideal location.
TAVERNA NIKOLAS - Agni Beach
You will have the opportunity to sample regional preparations of meat and fresh fish in an atmosphere that is warm and inviting at the Nikolas Tavern, which is a traditional Greek restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner. The Nikolas Tavern is in Athens and named after Nikolaos the Taverner.

The resort is perhaps best suited for families that like a bit of nightlife but who prefer a typically tranquil and peaceful stay. There aren't any nightclubs open late, but there are a few cocktail bars that are great for a night out with friends.
There are a few options in Barbati that are enjoyable for people of all ages and are perfect for families if you prefer spending the evening participating in traditional Greek dance and listening to live music.
Those who prefer a more sedate evening can choose a table at any one of the several restaurants, indulge in an evening meal accompanied by a carafe of the regional wine or a pint of Mythos, and then sit back and watch the world go by while enjoying the warm evening in Greece.
Corfu, Greece's Barbati Beach
Compared to the other beaches in this area, the one at Barbati is about two kilometres long and has a good amount of space and width.
Even though some people still choose to wear water shoes, they are made of smooth, flat, pale stones that are surprisingly easy to walk on.
This beach is the best of all worlds because it has clear, beautiful water and a sandy bottom where you can walk. The water doesn't take long to get pretty deep, and it's warmer than the water on the west or north coasts.
There are open areas with lots of free space and organised areas with sun loungers next to each beach bar. But there are boats in some of the open spaces.
A few quiet coves can be reached by swimming from the beach's northernmost point.
The European Community gave this beach on the island of Corfu the coveted Blue Flag because the water around it is so clean.
If you want to get to the beach from the main coastal road, you must take one of the streets that branch off and lead down to the ocean.
You are welcome to relax in the cool shade of olive trees in a beautiful green spot that is conveniently located right behind the beach.
There are plenty of sunbeds in Barbati, but you have to pay for each one before you can use it.
If you rent a scooter, you can move quickly through cities, villages, and along beaches without having to worry about where to park your car. When we go on vacation to the islands, one of the things we are most excited about is riding around on the scooter we rented. Every time we think about it, we get more and more excited about it.
We have been to several beaches before, and Barbati Beach is one of them. It can be found along the shore on the eastern side of the island. From Corfu's capital city, Kerkyra, it takes about 35 minutes to get to the airport, but it only takes 11 minutes to get to Dassia, where we were stationed for the duration of our vacation. The airport is about 11 minutes from Dassia.
I think it will take fifteen minutes to finish the job on a slow scooter.
During the whole time we were there, we didn't do anything useful. The visit only lasted a few short minutes. Even though it goes on for a good distance, the beach is not very big.
Mount Pantokrator, which is the highest point on the island, casts a shadow across the beach. This is one of my favourite things about the area. This is one of the best things about the area. The rough mountains make a great backdrop for the breathtaking beauty that can be found here.
There are a few places to eat and get a cup of coffee right on the beach.
When we were there, Germany was playing the U.S. in the World Cup of Football. That game was a lot of fun to watch.
By the way, you can always bring your own umbrella with you as a solution.
The fact that there was no shade on this beach was one of the things we didn't like about it the most. You can rent a sunbed or bring your own umbrella, but if you don't do either, you'll have to sit out in the sun.
Mount Pantokrator is a mountain peak that you can see from Barbati Beach. It is a mountain that is very rough.
Where to Stay
If you want to be right next to the beach, you have the following main options:
The La Riviera Barbati Luxury Seaside Apartments & Villas are at the north end of the beach, near a number of streets with vacation homes. Some of the buildings on the upper floors have their own private pools. A snack bar and restaurant are next to the big pool that looks out over the ocean.
The Barbati Beach Apartments are right in the middle of everything, and the bungalows have access to pools that are shared with other guests.
You can stay at Renata Rooms in one of their classic flats with a view of the middle of the beach.
The Verde Blu Beach Resort is a building near the beach's southern end. There is a beach bar and a small pool for everyone to use.
On a budget? You can find a few small resort hotels, like the Pantokrator Hotel and the Golden Mare Resort, and a number of traditional Greek guesthouses further up or above the main road.
