Nestled on the southern tip of Menorca, S’Algar was the first purpose-built resort on the island, despite this it has managed to retain its sleepy fishing village roots and relaxed atmosphere.

The resort of S’Algar focuses on quiet relaxing holidays and there is little here aside from a handful or low-rise hotels and villas neatly sit alongside a palm-lined waterfront. S’Algar is unusual in that it has no beach however provides sunbathing platforms and access to the sea. A small beach inlet is within a 15–20-minute walk along the coastal path at Cala Alcaufar or five minutes’ drive south and you can be at the excellent large beach of the neighbouring resort Punta Prima.

For under water enthusiasts S’Algar is the perfect holiday base, the waters here have incredible visibility up to 50 metres deep making it one of the best snorkelling and diving spots in Menorca. This part of the coast has some excellent diving areas including Menorca’s famously renowned spectacular underwater caves.

The small plaza near the seafront has a small selection of gift shops, a supermarket for day-to-day essentials as well as a couple of cafes and restaurants. While there is not a great deal of activity in S’Algar itself, the resort offers easy access by car to marvel at Menorca’s main sights. Menorca’s capital Mahon is only a 20-minute drive way where you can explore the stunning 19th Century fortress and shimming waters of Port Mahon.
